PUIG DE RANDA
A compulsory stop to enjoy the best views the island of Mallorca has to offer, where you will be able to admire the entire south coast of Palma, the imposing Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range and, on clear days, you will be able to see the islands of Cabrera and Ibiza. A luxury for the senses!
CULTURAL TOURISM
The excellent situation of the Puig de Randa mountain means that you can visit nearby towns such as Algaida, Llucmajor, Montuiri, Porreres and Campos. You can enjoy the inland towns, visit their squares, shops and try the Mallorcan gastronomy in the towns’ typical bars. One of Mallorca’s different and lesser known options that amazes people, the hidden side of Mallorca.
CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS
Visit the surrounding towns and their markets, buy Mallorcan handcrafted products, locally grown fruit and vegetables, and other items like fabrics, pottery or wine. The Llucmajor market is very popular in Mallorca and takes up a large amount of space, from Passeig Jaume III to the Plaza España, and is held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.00 until 14.00. Other nearby markets you can visit are in Montuïri on Mondays, in Porreres on Tuesdays and in Algaida on Fridays. A different way of discovering the inland area of the island and immersing yourself into the more authentic way of life.
FROM RANDA TO SANTUARI DE CURA
From Randa there is a simple and enjoyable hiking route that climbs up to Santuari de Cura. A 5km route with a slight gradient and along a dirt track, easy to walk, signposted with painted or stone milestones so you don’t get lost. The area is known as the Mountain of the three Sanctuaries since, as you climb, you will find several buildings, like the Sanctuario de Gracia, which is not currently open to the public, la Ermita de Sant Honorat (hermitage), the perfect place to stop, re-energise and enjoy the wonderful open view. Continuing the route, you reach the summit of Puig de Randa and the Santuari de Cura. It is a simple and well signposted trip to enjoy alone, as a family or with friends.
